Norman Rafter Remembered After 72-Year-Old Russell Resident Dies In 2018 Can-Am Outlander ATV Crash On Cassidy Road

Norman Rafter, 72, died Tuesday night after a 2018 Can-Am Outlander ATV left Cassidy Road in the Town of Russell, St. Lawrence County, New York, struck a tree, and overturned.

Deputies, firefighters, and rescue personnel responded after reports of a four-wheeler crash and found Rafter unconscious and pinned beneath the overturned vehicle.

Emergency personnel removed Rafter and attempted lifesaving measures, but officials pronounced Rafter deceased at the scene.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash and has not released details about possible contributing factors or whether anyone witnessed the incident.

Family members, friends, and the Russell community now mourn the sudden loss of a longtime resident whose passing has deeply affected those who knew Rafter.
